Bibliometrics - (1) from biblio- = book; metrics = measurements. Relatively fine-grained measurements about publications, authors, etc. (2) from bibliome = complete corpus of biological texts; metrics = measurements. Relatively large-grained measurements about complete text corpora.

  • Updates:
    • TO gave an intro to queuing theory last week, and plans to present more in another meeting.
    • NM. Proceeding, data collection is fairly complete. Software is in good shape. Working on the thesis document.

    • TO suggests people present summaries of papers during meetings, and started things off.

DB suggests queuing theory could be an interesting chapter later, but we can see later. Note that you can try different indexes, see what they say, critique them, and then try another one. We are *not* looking for the one perfect index, because it does not exist! Has identified a paper that models h-index stochastically. Would be a good starting point for a queuing model.
